SELF-DRIVE PLANNING
How to create the perfect Namibian road trip.
Namibia is made for self-drive journeys. With open roads, wide horizons, and dramatic scenery, it’s a place where travel becomes part of the experience. Self-driving in Namibia gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace – whether you want to watch wildlife in Etosha National Park, discover desert viewpoints, or simply stop when something catches your eye.
You can choose the comfort of lodges, the simplicity of camping, or a bit of both – we’ll help you plan a route that fits your style. We’ll recommend the right vehicle and make sure your time on Namibia’s roads is as memorable as the places you visit.

MAKE YOUR 4X4 COUNT
If you hire a 4×4, – use it. Add quieter gravel roads, remote campsites or less-visited lodges to your route.
SET YOUR OWN RHTHYM
Set your own pace: leave early to make the most of morning light, pause at a waterhole when wildlife is active, or stop for photos when the scenery surprises you. As long as you have a planned route and a place to stay, the rest of the day is yours.
KEEP COOL
If travelling in summer, air conditioning makes long drive days considerably more comfortable and part of the fun.
GOLDEN LIGHT
In Etosha during summer months, it is a good idea to start exploring the park as soon as the gates open and use the warmer part of the day to return to camp and relax. In winter, animals are less active at first light due to the cold.
